Mathias, a down-and-out New Yorker, travels to Paris to liquidate a large, valuable apartment he has inherited from his estranged father. Once there, however, he discovers an old woman, Mathilde, living in the apartment with her protective daughter ChloƩ.

Inspired by a series of interiors of Paris apartment paintings by Henri Matisse, the entire set resembles a painting with hand drawn wallpaper patterns. A large panorama of the Jardin du Luxembourg outside the window completes the painting motif.
